The Hartford’s Digital Marketing IT Team is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven Staff Software Engineer (Remote) to build and support various assignments. The candidate will have end-to-end accountabilities across Digital Marketing suite of technologies including integrations with our enterprise content management system.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong technical leadership, excellent partnership with stakeholders and IT peers, ability to develop robust understanding of existing processes and systems, solid technical acumen, experience in delivering quality technical solutions and proven track record in providing systems that are stable, performant, and highly secure.

Primary responsibilities of the position are the following:

• Responsible for hands on designing, configuring, building, and maintaining solutions including website creation, API integrations, administering and configuring content management system
• Partner with architects and other tech leads to deliver the program vison, project directions and system integrations considering cross-functional impacts and architecture rationalization
• Provide technical leadership ensuring system performance, stability, and integrity
• Become subject matter expert and technical lead for the sites and applications supported within Digital Marketing IT
• Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact environment and/or project timeline and budget
• Build and implement capabilities for continuous integration and continuous delivery aligned with Enterprise DevOps practices
• Drive team innovation leveraging technologies to solve the customer problems
• Mentor team members on software engineering best practices, solution design and technologies with a focus toward continuous individual and team growth
• Strong communication skills to engage with multiple business, marketing and IT partners across all LOBs
• Ability to understand technology trade off risks and rewards to achieve the best customer value
• Ability to provide concise communications about technical risks, mitigations and/or recommendations appropriate for the target audience
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a level of attention to detail

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in the full application software development lifecycle, from technical solution design to deployment and production support
• Hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and delivering solutions using modern Content Management Systems is preferred
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies
• 3+ years’ experience in building API/Web Services (SOAP and REST)
• Preferred experience or wiliness to learn containerization, cloud infrastructure environments like AWS and various AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, Fargate, Cloud Formation, Route 53, S3, AWS Load Balancing (ALB), SQS, SNS etc.
• Experience with relational database technologies. Knowledge of open-source database technologies is beneficial
• Experience in deploying the application with Application Servers and Web Servers.
• Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Rally, SonarQube etc.
• Experience with Agile development

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
