Senior Software System Engineer

Job Description/Responsibilities

Working in a “badgeless” / team environment with NASA, NOAA, and contractor personnel, serve as a representative of NASA providing oversight of vendors’ software activities (development, testing, sustaining engineering) and products (software, documentation) to ensure that they meet functional and procedural requirements.

NASA GSFC (GODDARD), Greenbelt, MD

Requirements

• Minimum of BS, Computer Science, Computer Architecture or related Engineering disciplines
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant work experience a plus to include experience developing in C/C++, experience in using RTOS (RTEMS, VxWorks, etc.) in embedded environment.
• GNC (ACS/FGS) — Guidance, Navigation Control (or Attitude Control System or Fine Guidance Systems) and or Command and Data Handling (C&DH) experiences a plus
• Job activities include:
• Assisting the Flight Project Software Manager in monitoring status of software activities of the spacecraft and instruments vendors and evaluating their performance.
• Participating in working meeting and teleconferences for both recurring and ad hoc meetings.
• Reviewing software documentation (e.g., requirements, design, test).
• Reviewing code, test procedures, and test results.
• Participating in formal reviews (e.g., design, test).
• Reviewing / approving Mission Operations products (command procedures, operations scripts, ..).
• Reporting status in both verbal and written venues.
• Traveling to vendor sites for attending testing activities or important meetings.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC) security badge to enter the applicable government facility
