Summary

The Healthcare Administration Manager is responsible for managing and evaluating all facility health service activities based on company, contractual, and healthcare policies and procedures, goals, and objectives. They will implement all contractually required healthcare services and strive to improve the operational efficiencies of the facility’s health service program. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison between facility staff, contracting agency, and compliance agencies on healthcare-related matters.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Facility Health Service Operations:

• Manage the overall operations of the facility’s healthcare operations.
• Collaborate with facility, regional, and corporate management to ensure the healthcare needs of the facility are consistently met and in compliance with company’s contractual and healthcare policies and procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Maintain effective working relationships with correctional and nursing staff, contracted providers, and outside provider agencies.

Decision Making And Leadership

• Utilize established policies and procedures to make decisions, while also exercising sound independent judgment.
• Direct the work of other employees and contract providers, including selection, hiring, performance evaluation, employee training, promotion, and disciplinary action.
• Ensure adequate staffing to meet the healthcare needs of the detainees/inmates.
• Ensure appropriate licensure of all healthcare personnel.

Operational Efficiency And Compliance

• Monitor and take appropriate action on operational issues, including overtime, medical file audits, compliance with pharmacy laws and physical safety requirements.
• Ensure proper accreditation of the medical program is attained for NCCHC, ACA and/or TJC as required.
• Complete and submit regular operational s, including client s as required.
• Respond to inquiries and requests for information related to the health services unit.
• Identify and track budgetary expenses of the health services unit.
• Evaluate and recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.

External Relationships And Education

• Participate in obtaining outside vendors for ancillary healthcare services.
• Maintain effective external relationships with outside hospitals or agencies.
• Attend outside educational seminars as needed.

Requirements

• Five (5) years of work experience in healthcare administration or healthcare management in a supervisory capacity, including experience managing clinical staff and operations.
• Strong verbal and writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate instructions and write clear, concise, and accurate memorandums and s.
• Proficiency in computers and necessary software.
• Experience in healthcare planning, budgeting, and meeting contractual obligations.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• Work experience in a correctional or detention setting in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
• Experience working in an outpatient setting.
