The mission of The Gathering Place is to provide a refuge where people who are homeless, at risk of being homeless or living with poverty, mental illness and/or addiction can receive nourishment and respite from isolation, discrimination, loneliness, and exclusion. Duties/Responsibilities:

The Gathering Place provides breakfast, dinner, and supper for over 2000 guests, seven days a week. The meal program is an integral part of chronic illness management program. This position will aid the program by overseeing the washing, sanitizing, and storing of dishes used during meal times.

• Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units.
• Operate dishwasher to wash dishes, glasses, and cutlery.
• Scour pots and pans.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment.
• Remove kitchen garbage trash.
• Receiving, unpacking, and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, etc.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
• Experience working in a fast-paced
• Professional, and self-motivated
• Trustworthy, reliable, dependable
• Ability to lift 50
• Clear Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
