The Opportunity

The Talent Acquisition Advisor will manage a variety of HR and systems administration activities, primarily aligned to Talent Management / Recruitment, as well as support HR operational activity for a client group. The Talent Acquisition Advisor will also drive the planning and delivery of Garvan wide People & Culture initiatives, aligned to Garvan’s People & Culture strategy.

This will include annual People & Culture Calendar Events as well as individual initiatives and projects across the employee lifecycle. They will work closely with the Talent Lead to enable the end-to-end recruitment process and provide advice and guidance to people managers and employees on People policies and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• End to end recruitment including posting advertisements, phone screening candidates, scheduling interviews as well as making offers

• Conducting any targeted candidate searches through various platforms

• Building and managing relationships with external recruitment agencies

• Complete the hire process / employment contract generation for new starters

• Supporting hiring manager and candidate through the end to end honorary, student and visiting scientist placements

• Running staff inductions

• Lead processing of workday job change requests, where relevant checking validity with P&C Science Partner

• Complete the hire process for new starters and manage the employee separation process for staff leaving the organisation

• Serve as a primary payroll conduit from the P&C team, escalating within the P&C team where relevant and prioritising requests from payroll amongst other workload and especially during pay runs

• Complete monthly payroll cut-off checks – such as contract end dates, separations etc

• Perform employment verifications where staff require (e.g. real estate or bank requests)

• This is a 7 month term (possibility to extend) with a salary of up to $75,000 + 10.5% super + salary packaging

About You

• A relevant degree in Human Resources or related discipline or TAFE diploma in Human Resources or equivalent

• Minimum 6-12 months recruitment experience (internal or external recruitment)

• Demonstrated experience in managing HR information systems including data management and reporting (Workday experience desirable)

• Experience in HR and office administration for a medium to large organisation

• Demonstrated ability – attention to detail, results orientated, whilst managing multiple priorities

• Well-developed computer skills across Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) at least at intermediate level

• Solid understanding and experience in general HR policies and processes

• Demonstrated ability to advise managers on HR practices

• Ability to work collaboratively with managers and employees at all levels

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Good time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks and handle competing deadlines

• Flexible, mature attitude with the ability to work as part of a small team
