JOB PURPOSE
The Ceramics Education Manager oversees the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the Ceramics Studios in the Art School as well as oversees the training and volunteer programs. This is an integral position helping to grow and shape the ceramic studio operations and programs in an expanding community-based art school. The Ceramics program currently accounts for 83% of our student body. The Ceramics Education Manager is an experienced ceramics artist who can run two ceramics studios serving 200+ students. The Ceramics Education Manager is deeply knowledgeable about best practices and safety in art studios, especially ceramics, and will ensure the Art School studios meet educational and programmatic standards. The Ceramics Educational Coordinator also teaches a minimum of two ceramics courses per term.
The Ceramics Education Manager is comfortable working with diverse populations including instructors, volunteers, facilities’ staff, and students (adults and youth). The manager contributes to studios that are collegial and creative gathering spaces for artists of all skill levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Studio Maintenance and Operations (45%)- 18 hours
The Ceramics Education Manager is responsible for all aspects of:
Ceramic Arts Instruction (20%)- 8 hours
The Assistant Director is responsible for teaching a minimum of two ceramic courses per term. Expertise in the following areas is required:
• Positive Communication and Feedback • Pedagogy & Curriculum • Use of Materials & Equipment • Safety Protocols and Sustainable Practices
Supervise Volunteer Program (15%)- 6 hours
Program Development (15%)- 6 hours
Other (5%) – 2 hours
• Meet 1:1 with supervisor and supervisee on a needed basis. • Perform other duties as assigned.
