The Cumberland Hiring for Cloud Platform Engineering Lead – VAC1143 Job at England Full Time

Working with our Technology department you will be key part of the team helping to deliver our IT Technology Strategy and roadmap. This will include the agile and cloud strategy that will enable The Cumberland to progress with new technologies and deliver digital outcomes that meet our user needs.

You will build a Cloud Platform Engineering capability at The Cumberland to help drive the successful adoption of the cloud and will have line management of the Cloud Engineering Team.

The role

The CBS Cloud Platform Engineering Lead is accountable for cloud platform engineering quality, ensures that best practices are being followed and that cloud platform engineers have the right skills, tools and training.
Your role will include the following:

• Ensure that the vision and goals for the IT Technology strategy and roadmap, including the agile vision and cloud strategy are well communicated and understood within the Cloud Platform Team.
• Provide leadership and guidance across the Cloud Platform team, developing team capability and driving adoption of best practices in cloud security, service observability, cost optimization and performance.
• Work with delivery teams to agree standards of, and support adoption of, secure repeatable deployments for cloud infrastructure, services and applications.
• Understand the agile delivery approach and agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) methods so this becomes the standard approach for software projects / software product and service development in the Cumberland.
• Work with delivery, architecture and service assurance teams to define and oversee implementation and maintenance of the CBS cloud landing zone to support delivery and operation of cloud services.
• Ensure that cloud platforms conform to the same security, repeatability, auditability and observability standards as cloud services and applications.
• Ensure that the balance between consistency and delivery agility is considered and that knowledge sharing takes place across distributed teams.
• Understanding of continuous integration and deployment and creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Familiar with using source control and using automation to reduce operational overhead.
• Support new and existing cloud platform engineers with the transition to: Infrastructure as code, Identity based security, Predictable repeatable deployments, Highly available and fault tolerant architectures, Agile ways of working, Agile delivery teams, and the cloud migration journey

The person

The ideal candidate will possess the following;

• Experience working in a devops or platform engineering role.
• Knowledge of and experience in a range of DevOps tools and techniques for various cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
• Experienced in people and team coaching and management.
• Experience in a financial services or other highly regulated environment.
• Able to work as a key member of cross functional agile teams.
• Keen knowledge and understanding of the Agile Delivery and Agile Development (SDLC) Methods in order to build operational and non-functional requirements into agile delivery planning.

Location

Current working arrangements are 100% remote working due to COVID 19 until at least Autumn 2021. Future working arrangements will be a blended approach of remote working with occasional travel to Carlisle, we do not provide travel expenses to place of work.

This position will be considered either working full time or part time, which can be family friendly hours or job share would also be considered.
