The Council is a dynamic, non-profit association located in the urban hub of Penn Quarter, just steps away from the Navy/Archives Metro station. Representing the top commercial brokerage firms and agencies in the United States and around the world, The Council is currently seeking a Talent Management Associate to support our People and Culture internally and Leadership & Management Resources, which offers talent development resources to members. This is an entry to mid-level role providing great exposure into overall talent management.

Core Responsibilities

For People and Culture:

• Support VP People & Culture in executing on company culture including aligning values with how work is done, and assist in diversity and inclusion initiatives
• Assist in the full hiring process of employees, including recruitment, interviews, verifying work-history and references, and tracking of new possible candidates in HRIS
• Assist in administration of benefits programs to include enrolling new hires, educating employees on benefits, open enrollment, terminating benefits, etc.
• Help with new-hire procedures, including organizing employee orientation, onboarding, creating new employee files, administering employee handbooks, I9’s, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is properly filled out and submitted to appropriate persons
• Organize, maintain and update employee HRIS information as needed.
• Prepare materials and help organize employee performance reviews
• Assists with planning and execution of HR Working Group
• Assist with creation and maintenance of all PowerPoint presentations
• Execute all employee termination procedures, including conducting exit interviews and advising on any termination questions
• Present any new or additional training materials to employees
• Foster positive employee relations and work to solve any employee issues that surface
• Make sure all employee records are filed correctly and kept confidential
• Abide by company-enforced HR processes and current employment laws and regulations
• Under the leadership of the VP People & Culture, be a vital source of human resources information, answering any questions employees may have
• Support any other special projects for People & Culture and Leadership & Management Resources needs assistance with

For Leadership & Management Resources

• Manages team’s calendars and schedules/coordinates all appointments
• Provides general assistance with administrative tasks
• Prepares and ships all materials for all in-person events (binders, table tents, agendas, handouts, welcome packets, etc.)
• Manages the plans, activities, deadlines, schedules, and priorities for all Leadership and Management Resources projects

• Organizes weekly team calls by utilizing a project plan to ensure team remains accountable to deadlines.
• Provides technical support for all virtual training and education sessions
• Assists Vice President in managing Leadership & Management Resources annual budget.
• Assists in sending out monthly invoices and tracking registration payments
• Manages updating and entering of new member contacts and department activities into Salesforce
• Assists on special projects as needed

Skills, Educational Background and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. PHR and/or SPHR certification is preferred.

Other Skills: Proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience working with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems is desired.

Abilities:

• A minimum of 3 years in Human Resources, or other relevant field; some experience in an HR environment is preferred.
• Prior experience in HR Generalist activities preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, and most importantly, personable and approachable.
• Strong customer service, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
