The Commonwealth Hiring for Accounts Payable Officer Job at London, England Full Time

We have an excellent opportunity for an Accounts Payable Officer to work in our Finance & Management Information Section.

The post holder will be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable Section for the three Secretariat funds which includes Line Management for three staff members. The post holder is the main point of contact for payment related tasks and queries ensuring their satisfactory resolution in a timely manner. The post holder ensures that payment requests are validated, duly authorised and supported by relevant documentation as per requirements of the Secretariat’s financial policies and procedures.

Responsibilities encompassed in this role include (but are not limited to):

• Ensuring the timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintaining accurate records and control reports;
• Ensuring Accounts Payable team meets agreed service standards;
• Developing Accounts Payable KPIs and reporting;
• Managing the recruitment of the Financial Assistants – Accounts Payable as well as their training and development;
• Assisting the Financial Controller with internal and external audits including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, particularly relating to expenses, and responding to audit queries.

To be considered, you will need to have at least 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths. In addition, you will also need to be ACCA part qualified or AAT fully qualified. You will have a minimum of 7 years’ accounts payable and general accounting experience, and at least 5 years supervisory experience in a similar role. Experience of working with computerised financial systems is also essential.
