Title: Key Account Manager
Travel: 2-3 nights per month domestic; 15-20 days to Asia annually
Location: On-site in our Nashville, Tennessee office
The Firm:
The Clever Factory is a twenty-year-old producer of high-quality everyday and seasonal design-based consumer products (including children’s books, gift bags, stationery, stickers, educational products) with a leading market share in the fast-growing dollar store and mass market retail channels. The company’s products are sourced through an extensive international network and sold in 15+ countries. The Clever Factory employs approximately 90 staff members in its Nashville, Tennessee headquarters and its Asia offices.
Summary of Position:
This senior role ing directly to the Vice President of Sales offers a great opportunity for a seasoned sales professional to manage an already successful business at key mass market retailers and to grow new customer/buyer relationships. This candidate will lead these relationships with multiple retail buyers in the discount channel including Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Dollar General.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with Key Account customers. This includes identifying and pursuing prospects, securing appointments, presenting, closing sales, and detailed account follow-up
· Present product lines to customer in conjunction with product team
· Work with product team to analyze/set margin targets & other economics for each program
· Achieve annual sales budgets and company margin objectives
· Monitor and risks & opportunities to senior management monthly
· Work with production team to track sampling and production process in order to meet delivery deadlines
· Work closely with product team to strategize and execute new product development to promote sales growth and meet customer needs
· Partner with internal sales support team to manage operational needs such as quote preparation, sample shipments and order entry
· Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure we provide the best product at a great price, on time.

· Persuasive and authentic presentation style with a consultative approach to selling
· Ability to communicate effectively with people of different functions and levels of seniority
· Able to thrive in a flat, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Candidate Requirements:
· 5+ years in a sales role to major mass market retailers
· Experience in direct import / FOB Asia sales is mandatory
· Bachelor’s degree or above
· Ability to work in a fast paced, results-based environment
· Understanding of consumer goods, the mass market customer, and overall retail industry
· Strong planning, negotiation and follow-up skills
· Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and execute under accelerated timeframes
· Strong organizational skills, with excellent attention to details and dates
· Flexibility to quickly adapt to change in priorities and act with a sense of urgency
· Proficient in retail math (margin, IMU, product costing, freight cube, etc.)
