About Us

The Carter-Ryan Gallery is a unique gallery in the sense that we only feature the work of Indigenous contemporary visual artist, Jason Carter. We have two galleries, one in Canmore and the other in Banff featuring original paintings (acrylic) by Jason Carter and stone carvings in different mediums of stone. In addition to originals, we produce in house a large selection of his past images in 11’ X 17” paper prints, giclee canvas prints (8” x 16” & 12” x 16”) and Limited Edition Prints (various sizes) and children’s books. The prints (paper and 8” x 16” and 12” x 16” canvas prints) are made with in house CANNON printer/canvas and inks that are assembled in the Elk Run Studio. We also have a strong online presence, again featuring Jason Carters originals and prints, where people from around the world, purchase the work and the work needs to be shipped when an order comes in.

The position

The Art Reproduction & Shipping Manager/ Associate is responsible for the production of paper and canvas prints (stretching & packaging) as well and the packaging all prints (canvas and paper) and original art works (original acrylic on canvas paintings and various stone sculptures) to locations world wide. This includes boxing them up, scheduling pick up, creating labels, working closely with Gallery Associates to support stock in those locations and generally be the point person in prints production and shipping department. This is a permanent, full-time position working from our Canmore, Alberta Studio in Elk Run from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

A Day In The Life

• Work closely with Artist on print jobs (paper and canvas giclee prints), using Acrobat, In Design, Illustrator, and Photoshop (colour correction, resizing, etc)
• Print and stretch canvas and paper prints on gallery thick wood frames; paper prints packaged in plastic sleeves.
• Package shipments for safe handling during delivery, including assembling stock boxes, building custom boxes, and properly cushioning contents (will be trained on proper packing techniques) and create printing labels.
• Ship orders and process online using Net Parcel and/or UPS/Canada Post, Canpar, etc
• Provide quotes for shipping and printing services
• Building/Handling and coordinating packages for shipping, pick-up, and follow up with tracking for prints and books.
• Manage and maintain inventory (Google Docs, etc) for online as well as the two galleries.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to customers, email and telephone inquiries as a representative of the Carter-Ryan Team
• Review and receive orders from our sales channels: Gallery Retail (from stores in Canmore & Banff) and Squarespace)
• Prepare the orders from inventory ensuring accuracy; sealing packages, creating shipping labels; providing tracking information to customers and team members for follow up
• Providing end of day production and shipping s.
• Pack items into designated containers or boxes according to company standards
• Ship orders and process online using Net Parcel and/or UPS/Canada Post, Canpar, etc
• Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including loading and unloading trucks
• Manage and maintain inventory (Google Docs, etc)
• Work closing with artist on studio needs (signature, quality of printing and stretching, communicating with the galleries to ensure stock is in place, etc
• Build and assemble boxes or crates for packaging purposes

• Can begin training for the position immediately
• Class 5 Drivers License
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
