Tax Preparation and Bookkeeping Assistant

Female-owned business looking for a self-motivated, data entry team member to assist with tax preparation and bookkeeping for small businesses and individuals.

You’ll work closely with our team assisting with calculation of client taxes including returns, liabilities, deductions, and expenses. You’ll self-review the accuracy of data on tax forms based on all tax rules and regulations. To succeed in this role, it’s important to have entry level mathematical skills, an ability to analyze complex data and the willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Calculate tax payments
• Estimate tax returns, deductibles, liabilities, and expenses
• Prepare quarterly and annual reports
• Collect data from income statements and expense documents
• Complete clients’ tax documentation
• Review data on reports and detect possible errors
• Research new tax trends and regulations under direction from supervisor
• Ensure compliance with government tax rules
• Basic bookkeeping data entry and reconciliations

Requirements

• Ability to operate a computer and calculator
• Basic MS Office skills (particularly Excel)
• Exceptional attention to detail and productive team member
• Excellent computational ability
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Confidentiality of client information
• Knowledge of tax preparation software and QuickBooks preferred but not required

Details

• Good fit for college accounting / business major and for candidates with a tax and accounting background seeking flexible hours M- F on a part-time basis
• Laptop and monitor provided
• 10-12 hours weekly, up to 15 hours during prime tax season
• Hybrid model to include work from home and availability to team in an office situation
• Availability required during regular business hours, with future potential flexibility
• Possibility to grow into more team responsibilities on the financial planning side
• $18 -21 hourly, based on skill level

Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
COVID injections are NOT required. Our team follows office cleaning procedures. Hybrid work options reduces need for the team to meet at the office. We do meet once monthly in-person offsite for team meetings.

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

• Tax experience: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Quickbooks Accounting experience (Preferred)
