Position: Financial Accountant

Location: Home working

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

We’re currently looking for a Financial Accountant who will be home based but with a requirement to travel occasionally to Twigworth, Gloucestershire where our Central Office provides financial support, leadership and governance.

The Role:

Working closely with our Financial Controller, your role will be to ensure that the financial position of the company is accurately reported.

You will be tasked with:

• Examining and analysing financial information.
• Assisting in the preparation of the statutory accounts.
• Liaising with the Financial Controller with tax advisors and external auditors.
• Responsibility for fixed assets.
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the newly implemented finance system (Unit 4/Agresso).
• Assist with VAT returns.
• Ensure the business follows all required legislation.

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

• Experience as a Financial Accountant.
• Completed or studying towards a relevant accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• A proven and demonstrable experience in financial and statutory accounts.
• Previous finance systems experience (ideally Unit 4/Agresso)
• Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.
• Strong degree of accuracy with high attention to detail.
• Strong communications skills.
• Able to cope under pressured deadlines.
• Good team player with a questioning, inquisitive, challenging, problem solving mindset.
