The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) is looking for a highly motivated Head of IT. The role holder will be responsible for the IT function for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) and ABDO College which will include reviewing and updating our IT strategy, servicing computer systems and software, overseeing equipment purchasing and installation, computer networks and user connectivity and maintain excellent relationships with internal users and external service providers.
The head of IT will have the key skills to lead and manage ABDO’s IT function and be able to:

Hours of work              35 hours per week, normally worked between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday at the ABDO/ABDO College site in Godmersham, Kent. Flexibility will be required.
Salary                          Commensurate with experience
Holiday entitlement     In addition to all public and bank holidays employees are entitled to 25 days paid holiday each year.
Pension scheme           We offer a Pension Scheme which complies with Auto-enrolment legislation. ABDO will match Employee Contributions up to 10% of salary.
Parking                       Parking is available in the office car park, on a first come first served basis.Â
Travel                          The role is based in Godmersham, Kent, where public transport is limited. The employee will be required to support IT at a number of locations across the estate. Due to the nature of the role, the employee may be required to travel to other locations within the UK. ABDO also has an office in Birmingham and the postholder will need to attend there as required.
Office environment     It is a no smoking office, with limited access to some parts of the building for someone who is not able to use stairs.
