About the position:

Working alongside the Director of Public Education, this hands-on role will develop and execute the strategic vision of AKF’s public education campaigns designed to educate and raise awareness about the risks of kidney disease in the general public, while also educating patients and family members affected by kidney disease.

Responsibilities:

• Lead public education sponsored campaigns, including health education planning and implementation for kidney disease patients, transplant patients, caregivers & families
• Manage the development of public education’s sponsored campaign materials (to include webinars, downloadables, webpages, and videos) in collaboration with the Education team
• Develop and execute project plans, timelines, tasks, analyses, and written reports, ensuring associated deadlines are met
• Manage ongoing evaluation activities of public education programs and campaigns to assess their effectiveness
• Manage clinical review with external subject matter experts and create content by translating clinical/technical jargon into everyday language for all literacy levels
• Assist with developing related business documents such as proposals, letters of agreement, project summaries and reports

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field: Health Education, Community Health, Biology, Behavioral Sciences or related (Graduate degree in Public Health, Dietetics, or Nursing is a plus)
• 3-5 years of experience in non-profit sector or other professional environment; supervisory experience preferred (which may include staff, interns or volunteers)
• Knowledge of health literacy principles, plain language standards, and behavior change theory
• Knowledge and understanding of health communication and social determinants of health, and its effect on health behaviors and health outcomes
• Well-organized and detail oriented with skill in research, technical writing and budget management with excellent verbal and written communication and project management skills
• Certifications in CPH, CHES or MCHES and bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are a plus
• Availability to work some weekends or evenings
