ABOUT THE ROLE
The Umpire Recruitment, Development and Retention Lead will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the AFL’s approach to recruiting and retaining community umpires. In supporting positive environments for umpires and opportunities for umpire development they will contribute to umpires coming to, and staying in, the game and ensuring there are sufficient umpires to support community football.
The location of this role is flexible across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:

• Reviewing and delivering the national approach to community umpire and umpire coach recruitment
• Reviewing and enhancing the national umpire accreditation and development system and curriculum (through OfficialsHQ and supporting LMS) for umpires and umpire coaches
• Actioning initiatives to improve umpire Club environments including supporting States/Territories in their work with Umpiring Clubs as required
• Coordinating the AFL Umpire Appearance Program and AFL Community Umpiring Round for Game Development and overseeing umpire social media platforms and communications
• Collaborating with State Community Umpires Leads and supporting them to implement umpire initiatives in their States and work with umpire associations as required
• Driving diversity in community umpiring and umpire coaching including supporting the actions outlined in the Game Development Women and Girls Action Plan and coordinating the umpiring program at the AFL Diversity Championships
• Overseeing the national umpiring data and identifying key trends to be addressed
• Support and contribute to the success of the broader Game Development team
