ABOUT THE ROLE
The Coach Recruitment, Development and Retention Lead will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the AFL’s community coaching strategy. In setting a coach development strategy that involves a blended learning approach and supports all community coaches they will contribute to coaches coming to, and staying in, the game as well as delivering positive experiences for participants.
The location of this role is flexible across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:

• Implementing the approach to community coach development, combining online and in-person learning opportunities across the lifecycle of a community coach
• Managing, maintaining and reviewing coaching accreditation processes and coach development tools including relationships with third-party providers as relevant
• Running national coach development programs as required
• Supporting State Community Coach Leads to implement coach development programs and share best practice learnings
• Contributing to initiatives that aim to improve coach behaviour on match days
• Driving diversity in community coaching including supporting the actions outlined in the Game Development Women and Girls Action Plan
• Overseeing the national coaching data and identifying key trends to be addressed
• Support and contribute to the success of the broader Game Development team

Core Competencies:

• Experience working in coach development
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Experience in overseeing complex programs
• Understanding of community football or similar in another sport
