Software Developer

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 dependant on experience

Overview of Role

You will develop bespoke software to support The AF Group’s employees, members and suppliers. This role spans the whole software lifecycle from conception to post release using the Scrum framework. Key technologies used are C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, JavaScript and Ember.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop software applications and features with respect to identified business needs, working in the front end, back end and database.
• Liaise with key end users to obtain and interpret business needs.
• Identify, investigate, prioritise and fix day-to-day issues and bugs.
• Occasional deployment of releases.
• Contribute to the implementation of innovative concepts and ideas.
• Assist with ticket writing, refinement and estimation of tickets.
• Enthusiastically engage in all Scrum ceremonies.
• Support the implementation of process improvements and development of best practice.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting the team objectives.
• Contribute to technical decisions and decision-making processes within the team.
• Leverage the expertise of others around the department by seeking advice and following best practice.
• Seek to expand your own knowledge and the knowledge of team members.
• Ensure our systems are kept up to date with modern trends and best practices.
• Working on other tasks as required – we’re here to get the job done!
• Ability to work outside of usual office hours as and when required. You may also be asked to represent the company outside of the office.

Person Specification

Essential

Skills:

• NET
• Javascript, HTML and CSS
• Modern Javascript frameworks

Experience:

• Agile development, especially Scrum

Knowledge:

• Relational Database development and design

Qualifications:

• IT-related qualification with relevant IT experience in a similar role
