The Role
This is a great opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a charity with a strong legacy, but with a compelling vision of how we need to change to meet the needs of our stakeholders in the future.
Your remit will be to provide strategic financial leadership for the organisation, and lead the Central Finance team. You’ll ensure an effective financial infrastructure (people, processes and systems) to support delivery of the Business Plans of The Abbeyfield Society (TAS). You will also ensure compliance in all financial, regulatory and statutory matters in line with our mission and values.
As an Executive team member, you will assume overall financial responsibility, be influential in shaping and delivering the future strategy of TAS, and have a significant voice on broader commercial matters, both on the Executive and to the Board of Trustees.
About You
You’ll already have significant experience in a senior finance leadership role. You will combine your excellent leadership skills with sound commercial awareness, with the ability to inspire and influence people at all levels.
Ideally educated to degree level, you’ll be a professionally qualified accountant, with excellent financial acumen. With strong knowledge of charity accounting, you’ll evidence a demonstrable track record of contributing to stabilising and growing a charity. You should therefore have experience of working with trustees who have demonstrated a strong focus on purpose, value creation and cash management, as well as the credibility to manage relationships with key external stakeholders. Experience of engaging with providers of finance (banks / investment houses) would also be a distinct advantage.
Finally, you’ll have the ability to build and develop a high performing finance function, with a diverse and complementary team.
