Tesla Motors Hiring for Software Engineer, Autopilot QA at Palo Alto, CA, United States Full Time

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing & validating all current & future Autopilot features on the path to full self driving.

You will work closely with the development team, to drive the validation of new & existing features, & you will be responsible for ing and investigating issues that are detected in the field.

The work you do will directly impact the experience that our customers around the world have with Autopilot. A strong candidate will possess excellent coding & software validation skills with a great attention to detail, a self driven attitude & a passion to deliver the highest quality software possible.

Responsibilities

• Help transition Tesla’s Autopilot to full self-driving by developing & validating features including Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, Smart Summon, & more
• Perform functional, stress, & performance tests on multiple levels within the system including vehicle software simulation, hardware-in-the-loop automation, & in-vehicle testing
• Leverage Tesla’s vast telemtry pipeline to monitor Autopilot performance in the field
• Develop tooling / automation to improve the efficiency of the validation team
• Identify effective test strategies for new / existing features & craft test plans accordingly
• Analyze issues detected during your tests or ed by others & work closely with firmware developers to fix issues & validate software changes
• Review of system requirements for testability & make sure software meets federal & internal requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience, or equivalent
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing or testing automotive or robotic systems, vehicle dynamics, or embedded system level software, or consumer electronics hardware / software (hiring all levels)
• Experience with ADAS features, CAN working knowledge, & / or experience testing computer vision systems is a plus
• Strong Python & / or C++ coding skills
• Experience troubleshooting on both a software / hardware level
• Demonstrable experience solving difficult QA problems (scalability, reliability, ing, etc)
• Flexibility of traveling to various domestic & international destinations when necessary to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, & proving grounds
• Passionate about Tesla’s mission

Expected Compensation

$104,000 – $348,000 / annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
