The Role

The Role Tesla is looking for highly motivated Engineering Technician to lead and support cell and module quality inspection, root cause analysis, critical Li-ion cell component analysis, and data analysis in both manufacturing and lab environments for Cell Quality and Cell Manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

Become a key member of all aspects of Cell Quality activities in Kato, including :

Production Support Cell Quality Failure Analysis Responsibilities :

• Identification, escalation, and resolution of manufacturing quality issues – working closely with relevant teams and owners
• Disposition of material / parts / cells according to quality specs as a member of the Material Review Board
• Monitor overall quality with routine checks, root cause any issues and implement countermeasures and corrective actions
• Support Engineering trials, provide feedback loop for any changes to process, materials, manufacturability
• Work closely with production to ensure processes and procedures output high quality consistently
• Maintain product quality and control plans
• Analyze and interpret cell inspections and analysis data independently
• Document results of tests in a clear and concise manner
• Analyze and on non-destructive cell analysis (CT / X-ray scans)
• Retain confidentiality of testing, test procedures, and data at all times
• Plan, setup, organize and maintain the battery lab space and equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of lab space and inventory of parts

Field Cell Quality Failure Analysis Responsibilities :

• Perform Failure Analysis of cells from module and packs, including module checks, cell measurements, module and data analysis, targeted cell extractions and failure analysis Testing cells individually and in circuit, providing insight into recorded data
• Teardown of various module builds; extraction of cells with extreme care
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with testing equipment
• Provide feedback to vendors by ing failure modes that are discovered and identified, keep track and record findings in manufacturing tracking systems
• Work closely with Remanufacturing to triage issues from the field
• Non-destructive cell analysis (Analyzing CT / X-ray scans)
• Analyze and interpret data independently
• Retain confidentiality of testing, test procedures, and data at all times
• Document results of tests in a clear and concise manner
• Plan, setup, organize and maintain the battery lab space and equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of lab space and inventory of parts

Requirements

• Comfortable with frequent change of direction, dynamic work environment and passion to perform time-sensitive analysis under production pressure
• Proven record of time efficient task execution, detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, excellent communication skills
• Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity are required in order to perform delicate assembly and disassembly tasks
• Ability and passion to perform hands-on tasks such as cell openings and inspections in the lab and production environment
• Strong desire to learn and use advanced characterization and analysis techniques in cell quality work processes
• Work with others in a cross-functional environment and follow written & verbal instructions.
• Ability to use business software tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data
• Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Expected Compensation

$24.00 – $65.00 / hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
