Tesla Motors Hiring for Electrical Engineering Technician at Austin, TX, United States Full Time

The Role

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, electrical engineering technician to join our growing team. You will directly into a cross-functional engineering team responsible for developing new equipment.

This position will reside at the new Gigafactory in Austin, TX and some travel may be required. Your efforts will directly contribute to laying the foundation for new product lines.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to both process development and continuous improvement of the equipment. A strong drive to learn new skills and acquire knowledge will enhance your ability to support production operations.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to maintain your position as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Ability to operate, maintain & troubleshoot complex, continuous motion manufacturing equipment
• Recommend and implement process improvements
• Help develop, draft, and update related manufacturing instructions following improvements made
• Escalate issues to shift supervisor / manager and quality team when necessary
• Support engineering activities including process and equipment validations
• Collaborate with operations, process and equipment engineering, maintenance, quality, EHS, and other teams to improve process performance
• Research & order necessary parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.

Requirements

• Three (3) or more years of experience building and / or maintaining production automation equipment
• Experience working on electronic systems ranging from 12 VDC to 480 VAC
• Some aspects of this job can / will be physically demanding, requiring working in tight spaces, walking and / or standing all day, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day
• Experience with high speed and continuous motion machinery preferred.
• Ability to read and work to electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC programs, etc
• Strong demonstrated ability to troubleshoot basic automation electro-mechanical components : HMI’s, PLC’s, motor controllers, servo drives, actuators, etc
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, a plus
