Tesla Motors Hiring for Controls Engineering Manager at Elgin, IL, United States Full Time

The Role

The Controls Engineering Manager will lead the Controls engineering team of 5-8 engineers, with the ability to train and develop junior controls engineers.

The CE Manager will ensure that projects are following Tesla specifications as well as industry codes and standards, in addition to managing multiple projects and ensuring that projects stay on track according to the project timeline.

Responsibilities

• Establish controls standards to improve team quality and efficiency
• Develop controls designs, both hardware and software, that are compliant with Tesla specifications and industry standards
• Ensure designs conform to all applicable safety standards
• Other functions as assigned by Management
• Willing to travel
• The ability to mentor others

Requirements

• Expert in PLC programming following IEC 61131 standard. Siemens S7-1500F and / or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controllers are a plus
• Familiar with different types of machine interfaces and industry standard communications and protocols, including ProfiNet and EtherNet / IP
• Experience using PLC and HMI development tools including TIA Portal, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and Ignition
• Familiarity with integrating robots
• Familiarity with Vision systems
• The ability to manage multiple projects and keep them on schedule for on-time delivery
• Experience in Controls Estimating
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, equivalent in experience and education combined, or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in automation industry with 3-5 years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role working on large scale automation projects
• Strong communication and organizational skills
