Tesla Hiring for Quality Engineering Technician at Palo Alto, CA, United States Full Time

The Role

We are seeking an energetic and super motivated, team oriented Engineering technician to support new products development and production ramp supporting Quality Engineer to develop all necessary quality controls to ensure proper assembly of cabinets, leveraging lessons learned from Energy and Vehicle programs, mitigating failures that can delay launch and cause major cost impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization and completion of Quality trials, fault injection and line validation exercises, working closely with Quality Engineers and cross functional teams.
• Lead product tear downs for root cause analysis.
• Drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents.
• Support root cause analysis of materialized quality issues.
• Work closely with manufacturing, process, and suppliers to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality.
• Maintain, update, and validate product and quality plans and control plans.
• Leads line to line root cause issues / solutions to increase and maintain quality metrics and performance.
• Develop and implement daily process / line specific audit plans. Compile and review results with cross-functional teams.
• Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert (SME) for process and product specifications that define quality in assigned areas.
• Assist Quality Engineers in management of Issue Tracker actions to resolution.
• Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements.
• Lead / Participate in continuous improvement activities with Process Technicians / Engineers Manufacturing Engineers and external suppliers.
• Take part in ongoing optimization of manufactured products with respect to both cost and production technology.
• Analyze and interpret high failure product data independently, effectively escalating / root causing fall-out.
• Direct potential problem preventative action on quality defects based on increased data metric fall-out rates and failed lineside products.

Requirements

• Level 3 Technician or higher.
• Experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc highly desired.
• Strong aptitude with electronic test and measurement systems.
• Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of GD&T engineering drawings.
• Ability to lift and sort parts.
• Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and management assisting with solutions.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing line leadership and guidance.
• Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
• Ability to pull and manipulate data in SQL, basic statistical knowledge (capability, t-tests, etc.)
• Ability to use technology tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data.
• Ability to operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard software.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Expected Compensation

$21.00 – $59.00 / hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
