Position Summary

The Lead Software Engineer will work as a key part of the MP Group Engineering team. As the Lead Software Engineer, you will be required to combine your theoretical skills with practical experience, to provide solutions to meet both internal and external customer requirements.

What will you do?

• Be the founding member of a software team to learn, develop and continuously improve the embedded applications within our range machines.
• Form an integral part of the Engineering team to develop and bring to market new machines.
• Create high quality software through application of an Agile-based approach to design and development, requirements analysis and specification, functional analysis, integration and testing with a continuous delivery mindset.
• Implement required development environments to perform software development and testing. Perform on-machine software validation in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
• Compiling engineering change log for software iterations.
• Assist with compiling technical procedures and bulletins surrounding software change / update.
• Complete failure investigation and reporting.
• Assist the engineering leads to understand the needs of in-house software development, with the view to building the team as required.
• Delivering technical training for internal and external customers.
• Manage small to medium projects including conceptual ideas, calculations, drawings, verification and production handover.
• Present projects to senior team members / management as required.
• Work across multiple departments to achieve requirements of multiple stakeholders
• Assist R&D engineering with improving existing products and conceptual ideas for new products

What we need you to have:

• Experience developing software for machine applications in CoDeSys 2.3 & 3.5 or similar. Expertise in compiled code applications is critical for success in this role.
• 7+ years of experience with software implementation; minimum 5 years with machine embedded applications.
• Advanced knowledge of J1939 and CANOpen data protocols and their implementation
• Knowledge of control, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of software structures and software control methodologies.
• Ability to problem solve routine issues both individually and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of Safety Integrity Level with respect to software development
• Knowledge of software development standards, including functional safety standards
• Positive attitude and strong focus on delivering results for customers.
• Fluency with MS Office.
• Ability to travel nationally & internationally for business purposes.
