Data Centre Specialist

The Data Centre Specialist will be located in the Algoma Tubes Inc. facility in Sault Ste. Marie and will report up through the corporate operations infrastructure (IT) team. The Data Centre Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the energy, changing power cables, managing the A/C cooling system and fire system of the data centre (i.e., server room).
Purpose
Leads and controls the necessary tasks and functions within defined procedures and guidelines to assure an adequate, reliable, and efficient technological base for the development and operation of information and communication systems.
Main Responsibilities
Leads Data Center (DC) operations controlling access to the DC, managing infrastructure (UPS, Cooling, Fire system, Access Control) locally, managing magnetic media and monitoring control tools.
Ensures equipment performance scheduling and executing the maintenance planned for DC infrastructure and guaranteeing the physical security of DC infrastructure.
Guarantees process continuity cooperating with Security in the execution of the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP).
Solves and measures technological incidents, requests or changes generated by own operation and/or Operation and Infrastructure Regional team.
Optimizes operation and assistance updating Tenaris Operating Manual and proposing improvements in the operation process.
Ensures the achievement of defined standards in the implementation of projects, providing counseling.
Issues Purchase Orders to keep an optimum inventory level and follow the payment of services/materials.
Advise and coordinate IT infrastructure activities inside the mill to have it operating.
Maintains Communications Rooms following the standards defined for them.
Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures, and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with, and develops his/her staff and manages HR related activities in line with Human Resources norms and procedures. Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.
Minimum Requirements
Degree in electronic engineering
2-3 years of experience working in an IT role
Skills and Qualifications
Working knowledge of technology, electricity, and IT tools
Skills related to technology maintenance, networking, power, energy, and cooling
Manufacturing experience would be ideal but not mandatory
