In Strategy & Finance, we set our company’s shared strategic vision and facilitate long-term strategic planning and resource allocation. Our team also provide commercial advice and strategic insight; deliver external reporting; and enable the business to effectively manage key strategic, operational, and financial risks.
We have recently gone Agile in Strategy & Finance so that we can better prioritise our work, flow the right resources to that work, develop our people and ultimately support our business stakeholders to deliver better outcomes for our customers and our shareholders. This role sits within our Financial Management Chapter Area, a ~350 strong global team of financial professionals who provide business partnering and FP&A services to missions across the organisation
The role with us
We are finance professionals who provide a full suite of business partnering and FP&A services including but not limited to financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, strategic partnering, management reporting, financial analysis, performance commentary and accounting advice.
As a Cost Leadership Finance Analyst, you will support the Telstra Enterprise Cost Leadership mission. This is a business partnering role to support the Executive stakeholders in the NBN portfolio, Execution Performance Excellence Operate function, Customer Success & Sales Group, and Head of Business with financial planning and analysis, providing timely and accurate insights to tackle strategic issues relating to cost and performance. You will be supporting the Cost Strategy & Performance leadership team in delivering our Company Objective GV3 (Deliver Growth & Value via maintaining cost discipline and leading operating cost metrics). The role will also provide exposure to cross functional process improvement and enabler initiatives to continue developing your skills and experience in stakeholder and project management.
This is how you’ll bring the purpose of your role to life:
- Completion of month-end activities including P&L and balance sheet management, posting of manual adjustments and preparation of reporting packs, ensuring output is of an excellent standard
- Leverage your technical expertise and critical thinking skills to generate meaningful insights and recommendations for monthly presentations to key stakeholders
- Productivity and cost out financial modelling support and review of initiative benefits.
- Lead sessions with stakeholders to present quality financial analysis and timely advice aligned to strategic financial objectives
- Take accountability for assigned work tasks, working independently when contributing to core activities such as the preparation of periodic management reporting and financial results for assigned business areas
- Continue to build your subject matter expertise through active thought leadership, to understand key drivers and trends impacting financial and operational performance
- Leverage your analytical skills to undertake high-quality quantitative and qualitative analysis, to assist team members to test ideas/business hypotheses, understand issues and provide insights into key decisions
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset when approaching tasks, by using best practice approaches when contributing to the development of forecasting and planning models
To be successful in the role, you should have:
- CA or CPA qualification or working towards
- A minimum 4 years proven experience in Finance management
- Experience in both management accounting – to support business partnership and technical accounting – to support accounting compliance
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to curate the story behind the numbers
- Desire to build leadership skills with a genuine commitment to building capabilities
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to details
- Proven demonstration of a growth mindset with tenacity for problem solving and willingness to seek information and appropriately challenge status quo
