The Opportunity

The Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Team is responsible for a range of research projects focused on improving diagnosis and treatment of severe respiratory infections in children, understanding the pathogen-specific, temporal and seasonal trends in respiratory infectious diseases; evaluation of prevention policies, including vaccination policy at local and population levels.

We have an opportunity for a Project Officer who is passionate about child’s health, to focus on developing and supporting projects focused on our Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) program and support us on our mission, to improve the health, development and lives of young people.

The Role

Reporting to the Program Manager, this encompassing role will provide project support to the Team Leads, researchers and staff members to ensure efficient functioning and achievement of project specific goals. along with providing general team support including research output maintenance.

Some of your duties will include but not be limited to;

• Provide assistance with management of specific research projects as required under supervision of the program manager and team leads
• Apply skills in academic writing to assist with grant applications, ethics and governance applications
• Maintenance of the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Research Outputs including publications & citation metrics, presentations, media, grant submissions
• Assist with the preparation of project specific budgets and procurement

About You
The ideal applicant will be passionate about child’s health and will hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant science or health related field. You will be self-motivated and driven by achieving project outcomes and will thrive working in a fast-paced environment.

Along with this you must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

• Previous experience in research project management
• Experience in academic writing including the preparation of grant applications, protocol reports and/or publications
• Experience in preparing ethics applications, governance applications and research agreements
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and to set priorities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficiency in a standard array of software packages (e.g., Windows suite)
