Staff IT Systems Engineer

WHY WE NEED YOU

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a deep knowledge of IT server infrastructure (Windows Server, Linux, & AWS) to join our growing IT Systems Engineering team. As a Staff IT Systems Engineer you will work cross-functionally with IT, Security, and Engineering to deploy, secure, and manage our servers and infrastructure globally. To succeed in this fast-paced challenging position you will need to be a highly motivated problem solver, be excited about security, love building for scale, and be deeply passionate about all aspects of supporting the IT needs of a growing tech company

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Envision, architect, and build IT systems across a variety of different software stacks and platforms. Including but not limited to the following:

o Hybrid cloud platforms and infrastructure: AWS, virtualization stack and bare-metal systems

o SaaS solutions: Google Workspaces, Confluence, Jira, Splunk, Okta

o Linux, Windows, macOS

• Develop and present proposals, e.g., TCO/ROI models and write ups, to influence business and technical decisions

• Design complex solutions that solve both the business problems as well as provide disciplined and sustainable implementations for the operational staff

• Develop orchestration and automation code for platform and infrastructure, i.e., (IaC) tools and frameworks (Puppet and Terraform)

• Mentor and train IT staff with specific tools and or working processes

• Develop novel processes and tools to optimize business workflows and operational efficiencies

• Manage and administer a mixed platform environment (Linux and Windows) using the above system management tools

WHO YOU ARE

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent degree/experience in related field

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex business and technical problems

• Demonstrated abilities to organize business requirements to develop and articulate solution designs, from e-staff to operators

• 5+ years advanced systems administration across macOS, Windows, and Linux

• Proven experience and track record troubleshooting complex infrastructure problems in an enterprise environment

• Demonstrated experience in at least two Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies – Puppet, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Rapid 7 or similar

• Strong networking background (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks) and ability to use Wireshark (or a network sniffer) for troubleshooting issues

• Experience implementing and supporting IT applications and infrastructure “at-scale”

• Strong ability to interact with and understand complex technical requirements across all levels of the organization

• Previous experience administrating and architecting Splunk in an Enterprise

• Experiences with incorporate security requirements and best practices into solution designs

• Working knowledge in web based application development platforms

• Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills
