• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a technically related field is required
• 3-5 years’ experience in managing IT–people, processes, & systems
• Experience in manufacturing IT environment is preferred but not required
• Working knowledge of Sequel Server databases
• System Administrator experience
Description:
For more than hundred years, our client has been making high-quality graphite electrodes for use in electric arc furnaces (EAFs), ladle furnaces (LFs) and non-ferrous smelting applications. Steel remains the most recycled material in the world and our client continues to play a crucial role in the life cycle of this environmental frontrunner. Their Ridgeville location has been around since 1983.
Our client is hiring an IT Manager to lead their Ridgeville site. This person would be responsible for three other on-site individuals (1 person who focuses on the manufacturing applications and 2 that focus on network/helpdesk/hardware type duties). The IT Manager would report to the Site Director of Operations and one other Director who sits in Japan. Additional duties include but are not limited to: architecture, networks, software, and applications for the Ridgeville site. This includes all the Information Technology for both the business and the manufacturing operations. This individual is accountable for the plant business and manufacturing networks, plant servers, workstations, applications, VOIP systems, mobile devices, and technical support. In addition, this includes safety, data integrity, housekeeping in IT areas, personnel management, contract management, and responsibility for developing and managing an annual operating IT budget. A big focus for this role is also being able to interact with the users to provide solutions/investigate ways to modernize the plant. The industry can be a bit static so it is important to have someone that is always looking for ways to be more efficient/improve the technology. Luckily the company has a very strong financial backing so getting things approved is very easy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Maintain compliance and ethical application of Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices within audit standards.
• Actively promote safe work practices. Support SLC policies, procedures, and objectives. Ensure effective communication of and adherence by all department personnel to affect no lost time or recordable incidents or property damage.
• Administer feedback informally and formally to direct reports through the company’s Performance Appraisal system
• Develop the semi-annual plant IT budget and monitor departmental activity and spending to remain within the scope and in compliance with budget guidelines.
• Define, develop, & manage all IT related capital projects & work with vendors as needed.
• Manage IT contractors, directly and indirectly, for quality and cost.
• Report functionally to the Carbon Division’s Global IT group to coordinate & implement Carbon Division’s global business effort at the plant-level regarding IT related functions.
• Maintain an acute awareness of the age and serviceability of all IT related software and hardware systems and make recommendations for upgrading or replacement as needed.
• Manage and oversee all IT related systems to ensure they are maintained and operated to maximize uptime and always maintain database integrity.
