This post provides an exciting opportunity to lead on the development of qualifying (QTS) initial teacher education (ITE/ITT) courses at Teesside University. The successful candidate will shape and drive this new curricula area of ITT/ITE, working in partnership with our local school providers, to meet the needs of new trainee teachers and therefore assist in addressing teaching shortage areas for the Tees Valley (and beyond).
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the QTS validation process in order to meet the requirements of the DFE.
The QTS ITT/ITE development builds upon our current successful ITT/ITE qualifying teacher training courses for the post-14 sector, which lead to QTLS. The post holder will lead, manage and co-ordinate all the ITT/ITE provision for the University, which is based in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law within the Department of Education and Social Work, you will also ensure the alignment of the QTS new courses to the Department’s current education and QTLS qualifying courses.
As part of the leadership team in the Department of Education and Social Work you will be responsible for the quality assurance of the provision, and therefore must have a thorough understanding of current OfSTED inspection frameworks and processes and will ensure that all qualifying courses meet the requirements of these. You will have a proven track record in the successful leadership and management of teams and people management. A key function of the role will be to lead the Teesside University Teaching partnership through OfSTED inspections.
The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree and a good Honours degree in a relevant educational discipline. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and presentation skills, be adaptable to change, and have a flexible approach to working.
