JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for providing functional and managerial support to the financial statement month-end close process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works directly with the Director of Accounting in gathering / providing pertinent monthly close information to / from regional finance teams.

• Manages monthly system close procedures including journal entry preparation and posting, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
• Review of monthly divisional financials and provides meaningful analysis on results.
• Must have ability to work independently and apply reliable accounting judgment to various complex transactions as needed.
• Review of staff/senior monthly journal entries.
• Review of regional monthly journal entries
• Supervises senior and staff accountants.
• Assists with external/internal audit requests.
• Manages multiple deadline specific projects and special ad-hoc requests
• Occasional travel to out of state field offices.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

• S. or B.A. in Accounting/Finance, or related field, Masters preferred; CPA preferred but not required;
• Five (5) years of related accounting (healthcare) experience preferred;
• Three (3) years managerial experience preferred;
• Excellent computer skills (spreadsheet, database management, word-processing);
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Excellent judgment/decision making skills;
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
• Ability to manage and direct others;
• Ability to handle stress and conflict; and
• Ability to adapt to change.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Indirect supervision senior and staff accountants.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, ets..) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
