This is a contractor position for TELUS installer/repair technician that’s compensated by piece rate with uncapped income. We are looking for self-motivated and tech savvy individuals with excellent communication and customer service skills. Telecommunications or related experience is an asset; however, we will train the right candidate with no experience in this field.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Install and repair TELUS Home Services (Home phone, internet, TV, and SmartHome Security) and associated equipment
Trace, install, and terminate telephone wiring, data wiring (cat 5e and cat 6), coaxial wiring and fiber optics wiring
Promote and sell TELUS products (commission available)
Explain/discuss details regarding progress, issues, and applicable charges
Meet company quality standards and key performance metrics
Complete administration responsibilities accurately and timely
Comfortable with lifting 28 feet ladder that weights 60lbs, climbing ladders/poles up to 25 feet high, crawling in confined spaces, and working in all weather conditions
MUST be able to work on weekends and statutory holidays
Work area will either be Vancouver, Burnaby/New Westminster, or Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in any of the following fields are an asset: Telecommunications & Smart Home Security / Electrical / IT / Network Systems / Sales / Customer Service
Telecommunications field technician experience is preferred but will train if necessary
Excellent communication skills and willingness to strive for excellence in customer service
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or open work visa
Driver’s license with good abstract
Normal color vision which is required to work with color-coded wiring
Double Vaccinated against COVID-19

Note: TC’s Telecommunication Inc. has a contractor-based workforce servicing TELUS. We would be looking to hire you strictly as a subcontractor, not an employee.

SUBCONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS:

You are responsible for all expenses listed below.

Company registration and setup
Purchase, finance, or lease a white work van or truck that is 7 years or newer with ladder rack bolted on
Vehicle expenses including maintenance, gas, registration & insurance
Work Safe BC coverage and commercial liability insurance
Purchase of required tools

As mentioned in the job ad, you can generate a 6-figure net income with our very good piece rate. However, to achieve that, you will be a contractor (not an employee). You will be your operating as your own business so you will need to register your business with the government. There will be some startup costs and ongoing expenses which are tax write offs. A top performer can earn over $600 a day on average before expenses, which is approximately $60/day assuming you work 5 days per week and 48 weeks per year. You can work 6 days a week to make more money and would also lower your daily expense. $60/day expense includes vehicle lease, fuel, vehicle insurance, liability insurance, and WCB coverage. Does this sound like something you want to do?
You will be required to purchase, lease, or finance a work truck or van with a ladder rack that is 7 years or newer. Purchasing a used work van starts from $10,000 or financing a new work van starts from $107/week. Are you willing and able to do that?
You will also be required to purchase your own tools. The basic set costs about $5000. Are you willing and able to do that?
To register your business, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Are you a Canadian citizen or permanent resident? Or do you have an open work permit?
Are you double vaccinated against COVID-19?
You will be required to work on all Saturdays and Sundays. Are you OK with that?
