Taylor and Francis (Routledge) have a vacancy in our Books department for an Editorial Assistant working on Religion and Anthropology titles. This is an deal first role in Publishing, the role provides the opportunity to gain a thorough introduction to the industry and involves working on all phases of the book publication process, from the conceptual stage to the finished book and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of different kinds of books, from textbooks to research monographs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting the Editor/Publisher you report to in achieving the agreed revenue and profitability targets for their list
• Preparing manuscripts for Production and meeting handover goals
• Researching and arranging peer reviews of book proposals under consideration
• Sending author contracts
• Managing schedules for manuscripts under contract and negotiating delivery deadlines
• Monitoring schedules and delivery dates to ensure timely publication
• Crafting descriptive copy for covers, promotional materials and sales presentations

• We are looking for someone who is highly organised, with strong prioritization and time management skills
• Ability to work efficiently, calmly and to a high standard under pressure
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and professionally
• Team player with a flexible, positive approach to helping others and an enthusiasm for learning
• In addition, you will be able to demonstrate sound commercial awareness and commitment to a career in publishing. An interest in the subject and previous publishing or bookselling experience would be an advantage.
