The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager based within Finance Operations, Downstream at our site in Hartlepool. Working with key business areas, the role aim is to support and advise on strategical, tactical and operational decision making through insights that drive better business performance.

Within the role, you will have responsibility for the preparation of monthly results, working closely with Accounting Transactional Centre of Excellence (ATCE) colleagues with onward communication to the local management team, this will also include preparation of latest view forecast. You will lead the Annual Plan process for the site, including the preparation of annual operating standards, provide financial support to local management team through cost analysis and control, calculation of bonus elements, and scrap invoicing. You will also analyse, assess and advise on short-term opportunities, such as cost/production, short-term selling, supply chain fulfilment and inventory levels.

You will support the local management team with UK transformation work and will provide input into strategy development, evaluate performance and track and monitor actual performance with a focus on process improvements. You will also support the preparation of the capex proposals and the monitoring of the progress for both the site and across Tubes UK. You will support and provide financial insight for the site’s continuous improvement programme focusing on elements such as material usage, efficiency improvements and employee utilisation.

The Candidate

As the ideal candidate you will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be qualified with one of the recognised accounting bodies (ACA/CIMA/ACCA). You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues at all levels. You will be able to manage change and identify opportunities to implement improvements as well as the ability to identify root causes of problems and resolve them appropriately. Previous manufacturing industry experience and knowledge of SAP would be preferred. You will be numerate with good literate and articulate qualities as well as computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
