Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) basis for three (3) years.

Duties

• Assess and provide recommendations on financial assistance proposals from businesses across a broad range of industry sectors. This includes:
  • Liaise effectively and proactively with businesses and other internal and external stakeholders.
    Analyse business plans and financial statements.
  • Analyse and prepare financial models.
  • Undertake business and industry research and business risk assessments.
  • Assess business viability and feasibility of new projects.
  • Consider the cost-benefit of financial assistance within a government policy context.
  • Apply critical thinking to assessments and make appropriate recommendations based on the analysis undertaken.
  • Prepare and present financial assistance submissions for consideration by Government and the Tasmanian Development and Resources Board.
  • Liaise with Crown Law and other areas of government to prepare legal agreements and documentation.
  • Actively manage loans and grants provided to businesses including ongoing due diligence, covenant and loan condition reporting, review of loan drawdown requests and risk management reporting.
• Provide advice and support to the Office team and other departmental staff in relation to commercial analysis and the provision of financial assistance and support for Tasmanian businesses.
• Work in partnership with other business units across the department and across government on financial risk analysis matters.
• Prepare correspondence, board papers, presentations, ministerial responses, briefing notes, Ministerial minutes and other reports as required.
• Prepare business cases, forecasts and financial analysis combined with understanding of key performance indicators to drive fresh initiatives and business intelligence systems.
• Prepare a variety of presentations and documents that aim to promote the State as an investment location by demonstrating Tasmania’s competitive advantages and highlighting key statistics relevant to both individual investors and investment intermediaries.

Desirable Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, finance or other appropriate discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment with emphasis on financial analysis, banking and finance.
• Current Drivers licence.
