JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: EDUCATION CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS: Possess BS/BA in Early Childhood Education. Must have five years of college program, Head Start, or public-school kindergarten experience . Must be able lift up to 40 lbs. repetitively, bend & stoop in the care of young children and/or to perform my job duties throughout the workday. Must agree to abide by the TCR Policy and Procedures Manual. Must maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families.

Positions requiring the use of personal owned vehicle to perform job tasks; successful candidates must:

• Be 21 years of age.
• Have a current valid state driver’s license
• Provide proof of current automobile liability insurance with a minimum bodily injury limit of $100,000 per person $300,000 per occurrence $50,000 property on personal owned vehicle
• Provide a current Motor Vehicle Report in order to be insurable by the program’s non-owned insurance plan

All job offers/work agreements are contingent on a clear report from the State Child Abuse/Neglect registry check, a suitability letter from the State/Federal criminal history background check, and negative results on drug/alcohol screening (pre-employment and random). All newly hired employees will be evaluated at the end of 90 days and 180 days (6-month) introductory orientation and evaluation periods. The time worked during the introductory and evaluation period will count toward the employee’s length of service for the purpose of determining eligibility of leave benefits upon approval of full-time status. The introductory period may be extended at TCR’s sole discretion.

• CURRICULUM
• Participates actively with Education Manager in planning and reporting progress.
• Participate in all required curriculum specialist development.
• Facilitate teacher’s understanding and implementation of curriculum implementation to improve student outcomes
• Understand and be able to articulate to the teaching staff, program curriculum and instruction, and assessment
• Plan and implement comprehensive instruction support, designed to support instructional staff
• Provides clear, direct and support feedback to the teacher based on analysis of practice
• Consistently analyze curriculum implementation through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis and classroom observation

• Assist with classroom reviews and monitoring to ensure program mandates and requirements are met
• Assist in meeting classroom ratios in the absence of staff members and when a substitute is not available
• Assure compliance with federal, state, local, and district laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to the Head Start and Early Head Start programs (E)
• Assists teachers with lesson planning
• Present at staff development meetings
• Provide orientation and training to new instructional staff
• Attend recommended training programs, conferences, and organizations that promote professional growth and improvement of early childhood education
• Assist classroom staff in provision of special needs services
• Assists Education staff regarding room arrangement and/or organization in order to accomplish curriculum goals.
• Models appropriate classroom practices and offers suggestions and guidance to center directors and teachers having difficulty in managing curriculum.
• Models professional behavior with regard to staff, children, curriculum, new personnel, Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start polices and guidelines.
• Plan and implement comprehensive instruction support, designed to support instructional staff
• Consistently analyze teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis and classroom observation
• Complete classroom visits to follow-up with staff and to monitor for understanding and implementation of concepts taught
• Demonstrates knowledge of and interprets to staff Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start long-range written curriculum plan.
• Assists in planning for and providing education orientation to new Head Start/ Early Head Start Education staff.
• Conducts in-house curriculum fidelity observations. Discusses staff input with Education Manager.
• Assists in planning and coordinating routine daily schedules with teacher and center staff.
• Observes playgrounds to ensure that teachers are strategically positioned in order to observe all children at all times to provide for their safety.
• COORDINATION
• Assist with updating Education plans/training plans.
• Makes periodic visits to the Head Start centers for monitoring the education program.
• Requests needed supplies, classroom material for staff/training and maintain inventory.
• Develops and maintains confidential record keeping system.
• Interviews potential education employees and makes recommendations.
• Utilizes an education curriculum guide for meeting the agency’s child development objectives.
• Serves as a Mentor Teacher; models behavior in management for beginning Teachers; maintains CLASS Reliability Certification; and provides training for new Teachers.
• Provides training for staff and parents based on needs assessment.
• Submits documentation of training provided as required by State licensing authority.
• LICENSING AND ACCREDITATION
• Monitors classrooms to determine that furniture, equipment, and supplies are arranged according to designated learning areas and that furniture is secured (bolted in place) to ensure the safety of each child.
• Inspects classrooms, grounds, storage areas, corridors, and other areas to determine that all areas are free of clutter, debris, litter, trash and/or broken or useless materials. Forward a copy to Center Coordinator.
• RECORD KEEPING:
• Maintains accurate records and reports as required.
• Annotates accurate observations during the staff observation-evaluation process.
• Assist with entering assessment data into the computer system and keep a copy of the generated report if needed.

VI. OTHER

• Must maintain confidentiality of all programmatic matters.
• Enforces and practices professional conduct in all matters relating to property, resources and/or center services such as personal use of telephones, equipment, food service, etc.
• Responds promptly to requests for assistance from central office.
• Meets health requirements as required by license and furnishes evidence as directed.
• Offer and accepts constructive feedback.
• Demonstrates control in difficult or unusual circumstances.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and ensures efforts to control costs by planning/coordinating travel and other efforts to avoid duplication, etc.
• Responsible for working within budgeted travel allocation and other budgeted allocations, wherein other budgets are applicable.
• Participates in preparation of successive funding requests by submitting proposed needs with costs and justification to Education Coordinator.
• Absent from work only when necessary and demonstrates punctuality.
• Meet the minimum hours of training requires to maintain any required credentials for this position.
• Abide by the all policies and procedures, employee handbook, and Performance Standards.
• Participates in recruiting children and informs parents of starting enrollment dates for child along with the Family Advocate.
• Must maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families.
• Meet state licensing requirements.
• Demonstrates an active role in assisting agency to meet the non-federal share of in-kind. (Provides written Documentation.)

• Performs other job related duties as required or assigned by Education Manager and Head Start Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $47,000.00 per year
