Position Summary
In this role, you will share responsibility for software and firmware architecture and participate in system architecture. As part of a team, you will design, implement, and test low-level C firmware and high-level C++ application code on our Talis One medical diagnostic instrument. You must have a proven ability to design, document and implement complex algorithms and workflows in clean, maintainable code which includes creating software components and unit tests from scratch. Your day-to-day work may include coaching more junior engineers.
Education/Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5 years’ relevant experience in embedded software development
- Technical ability to solve complex problems through creativity and deduction
- Writing low-latency embedded control software in C for RTOS
- Writing multi-threaded embedded Linux applications using STL, Boost and modern C++ standards such as C++11/14/17
- Debugging low-level code with bench hardware, e.g., oscilloscopes
- Championing best practices including agile process improvement, design documentation, code review, and automated/unit testing
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Experience
- Prior work in safety critical industries, such as Medical, Aerospace or Automotive, including requirement definition, design documentation, and testing protocols
- Worked closely with Systems, or have exercised Systems approach to solving problems
- IEC62304 experience
- Linux kernel driver development
- BSP/SDK development in Yocto
- U-Boot development
- GUI development in Qt
- Python for test automation
