Job Title: Cost Accounting Lead
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
The Cost Accounting Lead will play a vital role at the Thousand Oaks Biologics manufacturing site. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the product costs for all stages of manufacturing. This position will report to the Finance Site Head.
The Cost Accounting Lead interfaces with various departments, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and R&D to help set-up and determine the product costs with the responsibility to analyze, reconcile and report out.
The Cost Accounting Lead will develop a deep understanding of the commercial manufacturing processes, have an intrinsic curiosity about the pharmaceutical industry, an eagerness to collaborate in solving complex business challenges, and a drive to learn. The candidate must possess strong and effective communication skills and be a strategic thinker.
Responsible for setting up the standard cost for direct and indirect overhead as well as the bill of material for all products manufactured at this site. Responsible for the annual standard cost development with a thorough understanding of the inputs (raw material, direct labor, indirect overhead, bill of material yield changes and allowances).
Validate and analyze the cost of production as part of the month-end close.
Perform variance analyses such as manufacturing variances and cost revaluation.
Lead cost accounting initiatives directed by Corporate and be a champion for site.
Assist with and ensure successful internal and external audits.
Designated as super user on JD Edwards and SAP applications.

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 6+ years of Accounting or related experience, OR
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of Accounting or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA is preferred.
5-7 years’ experience in accounting preferably in a large manufacturing environment and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes.
Strong ability to assess problem situations to identify root causes, devise possible solutions, and make recommendations.
Ability to analyze transactional level detail in an enterprise resource planning system and articulate the key findings to management.
Strong business skills and effective understanding of financial and manufacturing systems.
Ability to multi-task and drive actions to completion under strict deadlines.
Be collaborative and forge strong relationships with other teams within other manufacturing sites as well as work cross-functionally within our manufacturing site to implement process improvements and make recommendations.
Positive “can do” attitude and highly analytical; enjoys challenges.
Detail oriented and comfortable working with large data sets.
Action-oriented and solution-driven with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
