System Engineering Support Company, Inc. (SESCo), is a growing small business specializing in Systems Engineering and manufacturing of hardware systems.
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant with a specialty in AP and AR for an exciting opportunity to join our Finance and Accounting team in a rapidly growing engineering firm in San Diego, CA. This position will be responsible for assisting full cycle accounting for FFP and CFFF contract types.
*RESPONSIBILITIES: *
* Ensuring bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
* Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs
* Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
* Processing due vendor invoices for payments
* Perform standard 3 way match on invoices and verify terms of payment and other charges
* Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance,
recording entries and reconciling books of accounts
* Entering invoices/POs into QuickBooks/Deltek Costpoint
* Communicate with vendors about accounts payable and credits
* Assists with postings to the General Ledger (Accrual JE’s, Payroll JE’s, etc.)
* Ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of AR billings and contract closeout activities, records and reports.
* Performs reconciliations and journal entries
* Prepares and updates cost reports for billing purposes
* Reviews timesheets for Payroll, make corrections and adjustments as needed
* Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

*Qualifications: *
* Three years of Accounts Payable experience
* Proficient using QuickBooks software
* Operational use and adherence to GAAP
* Must have a proven understanding of Government Contracts, specifically Fixed Price and Cost Plus (Reimbursable) type contracts.
* Experience with online invoicing systems such as WAWF/iRAPT.
* Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
* Must have strong working knowledge of Excel.
* Must have experience using QuickBooks software.
* US Citizenship/Permanent Resident Card Holder
*Preferred Qualifications: *
* 5+ years of previous experience working on Accounting for Government contracts preferred.
* Experience using Deltek Costpoint.
* Proven ability to evaluate work processes and implement measurable improvements in performance is strongly desired.

Pay: $55,000.00 – $72,000.00 per year
