Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Oracle Directory Services Senior Engineer will play a critical role in the engineering and delivery of solutions that enable the strategic modernization & transformation of Synchrony’s Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) & Linux Authentication systems. This role will understand the technology ecosystem and engineer solutions to drive critical governance & oversight of access for Synchrony systems. Additionally, this individual will help support and advance the Authentication Technology team’s strategy & roadmap for enabling our business.

Essential Responsibilities:
Design, engineer, deploy, and document Oracle Directory Services & Linux Authentication processes and solutions working closely with application architects & engineers, product teams, information security, and risk management functions
Day-to-day operations & support of the OUD platform configuration required to support business requirements, application integrations, workloads, regulatory compliance, and all other platform efforts or deliverables
Develop automation necessary to build, test, deploy, and maintain Oracle Directory Services & Linux Authentication systems
Provide deep subject matter expertise for OUD services, entities, configuration, and best practices.
Standardize and enhance the authorization, access, and security control of Synchrony’s Oracle Directory Services & Linux Authentication
Develop and execute standard technical OUD documentation including standard configuration, design patterns, technical requirements, architecture diagrams, and sequence/flow diagrams
Apply technical knowledge, industry experience, expertise, and insights to contribute to the development & execution of OUD features
Collaborate across cross-functional teams to improve and deliver on business objectives and priorities.
Collaborate with various groups and individuals to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues.
Ensure Oracle Directory Services & Linux authentication systems and supporting processes are well governed and adhere to Synchrony policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
BS/BA in Computer Science / other technical degree or Business Management and 8 years of IT experience or in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of IT experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading the engineering, delivery, and support of technology solutions for medium to large enterprises
Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting and administering enterprise RHEL operating system environments
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the development & operational support of OUD technologies including platform implementation, installation, configuration & administration.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the development & operational support of OUD processes including application integrations, vulnerability management, workload support, regulatory compliance, and service delivery/management..
Minimum of 3 years of experience writing and developing applications in one or more of the following programing languages Shell/Perl/Python/C/C++
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with agile methodologies as a Tech Lead on a product team
Minimum of 2 years of experience in automating deployments using DevOps & CI/CD best practices
Desired Characteristics:
Provide strong technical expertise in Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) with extensive knowledge and experience in installing, configuring, and managing
Experience working with large, complex environments and managing multiple OUD directories
Ability to identify and resolve complex OUD design issues and resolve them to the satisfaction of stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of an agile team to coordinate multiple deliverables across various teams
Familiarity with IAM security best practices and ability to implement appropriate security measures
Proven analytical mindset; Ability to identify patterns or correlation within data sets
Strong engineering and architecture skills; especially in information security
Strong, hands-on, development experience building OUD workflows/processes for application integrations, vulnerability management, workload support, regulatory compliance, and service delivery/management
Hands-on experience working across various identity functions including Identity Governance & Administration, Authentication / Authorization, Directory Services, Privilege Management, and Secrets Management
Experience designing and building with DevOps, API-driven solutions, and fully automated service delivery capabilities
Strong executive presence, communication, presentation skills
Knowledge of the organization’s enterprise technology goals and objectives
Knowledge of the organization’s core business/mission processes
Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data security standards
Knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards
Knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, or governance relevant to cybersecurity for critical infrastructures
Knowledge of cyber defense and information security policies, procedures, and regulations
Knowledge of information technology (IT) risk management policies, requirements, and procedures
Skill in creating policies that reflect system security objectives
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 – 170,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
