AxonPro is the Professional Liability division of Axon Underwriting. Axon Underwriting is a full-service MGA/MGU and Program Administrator platform. Axon underwrites and distributes products via underwriting authority granted by multiple ‘A Rated’ US carriers and as a Coverholder at Lloyds of London.

We are seeking an Underwriter trainee to join our growing team.

Position Overview

This is a market facing underwriting role on a close-knit team of highly motivated and productive individuals. As an underwriter trainee, you will be responsible for underwriting primarily renewal business, as well as new business as needed. This position will review applications and related documents to assess each risk, assign rating, include appropriate coverage endorsements, and determine appropriate pricing for accounts within broad and diverse geographical locations.

The ideal Candidate:

• Possesses a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
• Past sales experience or customer service experience.
• Independent and self-motivated
• Articulate and analytical
• Detail oriented and outcome focused
• Creative solution driven problem solver
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage/prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

Performance Objectives:

• Gain understanding of the underwriting process: During the first 30 days learn how to evaluate risks, review submissions, and ask a lot of questions.
• During the first 60 days and beyond: Show critical thinking skills by finding solutions to write the business and satisfy both the client and the risk-taker.
• Upon accepting a role at Axon, the position will require obtaining a Property & Casualty Brokerage License, if not already licensed
• Review and Quote less complicated risks: Be able to quote easier risks, with little oversight needed.
• Understand more complex risks: During the first 6 months begin to understand more complex risks.

Pay: $35,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
