Role Description

We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen interest in the development and support of SaaS platform infrastructure services to allow us, the Research and Development group, to successfully develop and deliver new capabilities back out to the market in a timely cost effective manner. The role brings together a unique combination of development, functional and non-functional testing, maintenance and support activities on deployments of infrastructure services at scale, as well as contributions to open source applications e.g. fluent-bit. The role reports into the Director Development who is responsible for the Common Infrastructure services used by Synamedia Solutions. Some travel is expected on occasion to support some of the activities listed below. The role is based in the UK in either of our two locations (Chandlers Ford or Staines) or as a UK based Remote Worker.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding and upto of 1 years’ experience of:

• Working as a Development Engineer or DevOps Engineer or equivalent role, developing and delivering the Infrastructure or Platform aspects of a Software as a Service (SaaS) system, (or system with equivalent breadth/scope) from a functional and non-functional perspective
• Engaging with and supporting customers of software deliverables
• Working within agile ceremonies and roles to clarify requirements and ideas from customers and stakeholders
• Input to a backlog for development based on the incoming requirements
• Working at an development level with technologies such as GoLang, Python, Ansible, Terraform, BASH within a highly technical domain
• Supplying effort estimates to ensure good predictability in meeting customer commitments
• Working within mixed development and delivery methodologies, agile, waterfall etc
• Develop and test changes to infrastructure services and the packaging in which they are delivered
• Contribute upstream opensource features and bug fixes as required
• Track activities in Jira, Confluence and Tempo
• Keep abreast of competitive and industry leading ideas and features that are relevant to our solution
• Work with Common Infrastructure development teams to breakdown, estimate, schedule and execute the backlog items within the bounds of an agile development methodology
• The role will be supported by team Scrum Masters and development engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

Personal Attributes

• Degree level or equivalent
• Understanding of agile development methodologies
• Development experience with some or all of the following technologies (GoLang, Python, Ansible, Terraform, BASH)
• Presentations and communication to stakeholders
• Understanding of high-level architectures workflows and technologies
• Awareness of some of the feature sets of OTT PayTV systems
• Flexible, self-motivated, and well-organised
• Good team player
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multi-cultural International environment
• Must be able to pick up ideas quickly and be able to see things through to completion with a minimum of supervision.

• Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence, Xray, Tempo) – an advantage
• Deployment and Operation of a PayTV system – an advantage
