We are looking for a collaborative Software Systems Engineer to join the team in Sydney. You will analyse current development tools and infrastructure utilised within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them. You will take pride in finding solutions to all kinds of challenges, no matter how big or small they may be. As part of a team truly passionate about technology, you will gain invaluable exposure to new technology and learning.

What you’ll do as a Software Systems Engineer:

• Lead/contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around deployment and monitoring distributed systems at scale
• Drive adoption of best practices in deployment, monitoring, alerting, and performance
• Work closely with the team to implement monitoring & observability instrumentation within their platforms (enable them to move from “feature complete” to “production ready”)
• Translate your technical skills to influence other engineers, architects and senior managers within the team and wider organisation
• Experiment with new technologies and ideas! Active learning and being curious is something that we value greatly

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Experience/Knowledge in designing individual software systems, a whole ecosystem of interdependent systems (microservices style), to operate at low cost and high quality.
• Experience with Cloud-based infrastructure and DevOps practices
• Experience building deployment practises and tools, monitoring and alerting systems
• Experience designing and building reliable systems at scale
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Bonus points for experience in Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Docker and/or Service meshes such as Istio
