Sylvan Learning Center of Irvine Hiring for Teacher Full Time

Part-time Teacher
Sylvan Learning Center is looking for part-time teachers for our learning center in Irvine. While online teaching is available, we are prioritizing candidates who can teach in person.

• These are part-time positions (about 2-10 hrs./week depending on your availability and preferences)
• More hours available in the late spring and over the summer. Our summer teaching hours start at 9:00 am.
• Must complete training (4 hours online; 12 hours teaching–observe teachers for 6 hours, and teach with one of our certified teachers observing/coaching you for 6 hours). Training is paid at a flat rate of $15/hour regardless of pay negotiated post-training.

Teach one-on-one reading, writing and/or math at elementary/middle school levels in small groups up to 3 students. The program is designed so you spend all your time focused on the students.

• Lesson plans prepared for you via SylvanSync software on iPads.
• We provide a step-by-step curriculum and all the materials needed!

• PD on table management, common core strategies and student motivation.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree required.
• Credential from State of CA required- (must present credential copy and livescan upon hire)
• If currently in a teaching program, we will still consider you for employment, but you must present livescan.
• Positive and enthusiastic about teaching!
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must.
• Previous teaching/ tutoring experience/ knowledge of Common Core strategies welcome

Compensation:

• Teacher rate varies based on experience and credentials up to $20 per hour.
