Sylvan Learning Center, the nation’s leading provider of educational services, seeks part-time teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Kindergarten through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime.

We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work with at our learning center and/or at schools in the Glendale area.

As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Just Teaching. No Lesson Plans. No Preparation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Prepares for each instructional session; Gathers and prepares materials as appropriate

• Supervise, interact with, and motivate students

• Reward students for completed assignments

• Evaluate and document student progress

• Communicate student needs to the center director

• Inspire and develop a rapport with students

• Establish a fun learning environment

• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Four year degree or equivalent preferred

• State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired)

• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred

• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers

Compensation: $17-$19/hour

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
