GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Sylvan Learning Center uses a proven system to create great learning experiences for students who want to catch up, branch out, and get ahead academically. Sylvan Teachers are at the center of this effort to improve the lives of children, their families, and our larger community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet and instruct students to ensure personal engagement
• Manage student tasks and time to foster productive instructional sessions
• Evaluate and record the progress of each student in their personalized programs
• Give meaningful praise to inspire the love of learning
• Use the Sylvan motivational token system
• Conclude each session with a student learning log and transition activity
• Support procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
• Communicate specific student and operational needs to center support staff
• Attend periodic staff meetings and training as needed

TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS

Reading, Writing, Study Skills, as well as Elementary and Middle School Math:

• Four year degree or equivalent required
• State teaching credentials (current or expired)
• Minimum of two years teaching experience preferred

Upper Level Math Program: * Four year degree required in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college level math

ACT/SAT Test Prep and STEM:

• Four year degree or equivalent preferredAdditional Compensation:
