Sydney Airport Hiring for Manager, Financial Performance at Mascot, New South Wales, Australia Full Time

About the role

The Manager for Financial Performance will be responsible for the efficient production and distribution of all financial, performance and operational analysis for Technology, Data and Digital (TDD). It is also responsible for business case and commercial analysis to add insight and value into business unit growth and success.

Sydney Airports Finance team plays an important role at the Airport, both in a standalone capacity and by providing cross functional support to other business units encompassing multiple functions; Financial Control, Financial Performance, Budgeting, Billing, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Treasury, Commercial and Procurement. We adopt a business partner model and there are Finance members integrated across the key business units.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to

• Provision of analytical support to the business units to assist management in understanding the dynamics of the business, the trends, and the reasons for those trends. In addition, this support may also include tasks such as business case development (including DCF and various sensitivities) or operating cost reviews.
• Provision of commercial support to the business in the contract renewal process including financial analysis, tender assessment and provision of supporting data for relevant approval documents (e.g. Board papers, CEO memos).
• Administer and support Capex requirements – including business cases.
• Month end process including journal entries, accruals, and General Ledger reconciliations.
• Preparation of monthly s on business performance vs targets (budget/forecast), trends and KPIs (Revenue, Opex & Capex) vs budget and forecast.
• To provide support to Senior Manager-Financial performance as required, which may include assistance with consolidation of group results and other ad hoc activities.
• Lead and prepare detailed annual budgets and forecasts (Revenue, Opex & Capex) within the relevant business units, providing challenge, insight, and support to the business through the process. This includes identification of risks with mitigating strategies and identifying opportunities.
• Active involvement in the operation and future development of finance processes and systems to improve performance, ing and analysis of the business.

Your background should include

• Being a qualified Accountant with tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce
• Minimum 5 years’ experience post qualification with proven experience in a similar role
• Experience using Oracle, MS Excel, PowerBI or Board
• Proven experience improving system processes and implementing change
• Managing stakeholder expectations and engagement
• Previous analytical and modelling experience and experience in the presentation of analysis and information
• Experience dealing with investment and valuation matters – understanding of valuation methods, tools, and calculations
