Swinburne University of Technology Hiring for Research Fellow (Astrodynamics Simulation) Job at Melbourne Full Time

Swinburne is embarking on an exciting journey, working towards our new vision of bringing people and technology together to build a better world. We are seeking an outstanding Research Fellow (Astrodynamics) to investigate current state-of-the-art software for mission simulation and visualisation. This includes an evaluation of a suite of commercial and open-source options, considering both quantitative metrics (performance benchmarks, accuracy of orbital calculations) and qualitative factors (usability, flexibility, licensing costs and platforms for delivery).

The Research Fellow will apply their research skills to complete an academic literature review, work with and assess technical simulation software, engage with Australian space simulation end users to develop space mission scenarios for assessing astrodynamics software, and prepare a White Paper for the SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre.

About you

To be suitable for the role you will possess:

• Honours research degree, Masters by Research degree or PhD in Space Science, Computer Science, Physics, Astrophysics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in the preparation of a research literature review
• Demonstrated experience in the use of technical software packages
• Demonstrated experience in preparation of technical reports, academic publications, or white papers
