Swinburne University of Technology Hiring for General Manager & Dean, Swinburne College Job at Melbourne Full Time

Swinburne College is a joint venture between Swinburne University and UP Education (UP) which delivers foundation and pathway programs for international and domestic students. We are seeking a transformative leader to take on the role of General Manager & Dean and help shape Swinburne College as a truly responsive, deliberate and evidence-based organisation. The General Manager and Dean will develop and lead the College’s strategy and priorities as agreed with the Board and will direct and implement policies, procedures, frameworks and programs to deliver the agreed budget and commercial outcomes.

The General Manager and Dean will work in partnership across several teams within Swinburne University and UP Education more broadly. The General Manager and Dean formally reports through to the Swinburne College Board of Directors, however operationally, works with the Swinburne University PVC Global Engagement and the UP Education CEO, University Partnerships and Australia as required to meet the quality, compliance and commercial imperatives of Swinburne College.

In 2020 Swinburne University and UP Education established a joint venture partnership to form Swinburne College which delivers foundation and pathway programs for international and domestic students. These programs (Foundation Year, UniLink diplomas and ELICOS), assist students to reach the entry requirements for a university degree, transition from post-secondary to higher education or improve English language skills.

About you

To be suitable for the role you will have:

• Demonstrated high-level leadership experience in the vocational pathways or higher education sector
• Proven leadership and team building skills and proven experience in leading, coordinating and motivating staff across a range of diverse functions and activities
• Strategic finance, operational and excellence focus with extensive experience in the development and implementation of strategies and/or strategic initiatives including measurable plans
• Demonstrated commercial acumen
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience in interacting effectively at a senior level with both internal and external stakeholders to develop relationships built on trust

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the Swinburne College strategy and priorities as agreed with the Board
• Develop business growth and improvement strategies (short and long term) in collaboration with the Board of Directors
• Provide strategic advice to the board of directors and lead planning and development of Swinburne College’s strategic direction
• Working with Swinburne and UP Education strategic plans, develop and implement business plans, budgets, policies and strategies aligned to key strategies.
• Provide strategic leadership, guidance and advice, establishing clear objectives and expectations regarding performance that align with strategic direction of the college
• Manage and coach for optimal individual and team performance to achieve Swinburne College’s strategic goals
• Provide high-level academic leadership and champion collaboration between Swinburne, UP Education and Swinburne College staff to ensure excellence in standards in the delivery of Swinburne programs
